For the past three months i have been at home, with nothing in particular to do. While i hate university, i love the process of learning, its one thing i cannot live without. And institutions give you that routine to make you productive, at least in my case. But oh well, shit luck i have, here i am with another month of vacation and zero certainties for the future.

Now, the world has seen many pandemics, many lock downs, many a calamities. While the fear, gloom and despair remains the same, there is a certain privilege in being alive during a pandemic of 21st century. I will not spread any gloom in here, there’s plenty already. I LOVE not having to go out and talk to people but i also need something to do at home or i’ll go crazy. Or crazier i guess, pagal to mai wesy hi hun. This one’s about keeping yourself from going crazy while avoiding stepping out of your homes. But mostly this is to convince my own self to follow my own advice lol.

  1. Start online courses: While a lot of institutions are doing that already, i do not get that because well, thats what you get for studying in balochistan. I’m so pissed off about it i wont even say anything else. So yeah, courses. You can take free courses at EdX, Coursera, MIT opencoureware, codeacademy etc. Keep the knowledge coming folks!
  2. READ!!! What better companion than books at this time. I have already been around the world without ever leaving my room. Sounds like something everyone could use rn, no?
  3. Learn a new language: ITS FUN!!! Download Duolingo and learn that language you always wanted to learn.
  4. Look for an online job: Trust me, there is no better way to keep yourself occupied than do something that earns you money. Sign up on Fiverr, make a profile on Upwork, USE THE SOCIAL MEDIA TO SELL YOUR SKILLS!!!
  5. Workout: While we’re all stuck at home, get your body working . You need a strong body to keep your immunity strong, which is kinda something we could all use rn. Open up youtube and look for inspiration instead of conspiracy theories regarding the virus maybe? Might do us some good.
  6. Learn a new skill: Oh there’s a world out there. Is there something you always wanted to learn but just never got to do it? Well, now is the time guys, now is the time.

So, yeah. Make up a list of a bunch of things you want to do, get yourself to it. Make sure its plenty of things because if you’re like me, you wont stick to just one thing for long without getting bored.

Stay at home guys and get to know your own self for once and try having quality time with yourself. May Allah keep everyone safe and may we all keep ourselves sane in this time of chaos and complete boredom. Peace!
